In order to keep messages simple and short will give you some tips as following:

  1. Brush 2X a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
  2. Spit after brushing.
  3. Limit sweets to meal times instead of snacking.
  4. Visit the dentist and hygienist regularly.
  5. Register your child with the dentist as soon as their first tooth erupts in the mouth.

Happy to share recipes with parents and families that cost about 10 pounds to tackle dental caries and childhood obesity.

One may ask what is dental decay? Dental decay in simple language occurs when the bacteria in the mouth acts on sugar to produce acid which ‘attacks’ the teeth.

Dental caries is preventable that is why I believe in the adage,

‘PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.’

Do you know that a healthy mouth should not bleed?
Do you know that loosing your teeth is similar to the bereavement process?
Do you know if your child has toothache you have to take time off work to look after them?
Do you know how to prevent your child from undergoing general anaesthesia to have decayed teeth removed?

I quote” The cost to the NHS of treating oral conditions is about 3.4 billion pounds per year” (www.gov.uk 2021).
Do you know it costs the health service about 35 million pounds a year to put a child to sleep in order to remove decayed teeth?

Do you know your mouth is a reflection of your general health?
For instance if the tooth has a glass like, shiny appearance it could be a sign of erosion or someone who likes taking ‘acidic stuff.’

Do you know a worn dentition could be a sign of someone who grinds their teeth especially at night which may be a sign of stress?

Do you know ‘cold sores’ around the mouth could be a sign of being ‘run down’?

Do you know white patches and red patches could be a sign of an underlying health issue and needs specialist attention and comprehensive history taking which encompasses life style.

We all need to work together in shared decision making because you know yourself better.
